Golden Girl
02:20
|
|||
You laid with me
You held my hand for a moment
You kissed my cheek and now you’re gone
On my bed
The shape of your body remaining
Now I don’t know where I belong
Golden girl
Your love-lights burned me to ashes
Smoke curls ‘round my weary heart
All my world
Here and gone in flashes
Only miles and worlds apart

Empress Of Knives
02:42
|
|||
We give our lives for the Empress Of Knives
We dance to the beat of our enemies’ retreat
Measure by measure, Her whim and pleasure
Whatever the reason, refusal is treason
Bravely we fight for the Mistress Of Night
Our powder is dry for the first battle cry
Our automatics do acrobatics
Onward we press with no hope of rest
We can rest when we’re dead
Retiring to Her holy bed
We are beholden to She of golden
Eyes so entranced by our deadly dance
We are enthralled to answer the call
Of Mistress and Mother above any other
Gracious and blithe the Empress Of Knives
For those who impress receive Her caress
Bayonets drawn to turn them upon
All who oppose our Lady Of Roses
We can rest when we’re dead
Retiring to Her holy bed
We can rest when we’re dead
Retiring to Her holy bed
We can rest when we’re dead
Retiring to Her holy bed

A Third To Enfold Them
03:49
|
|||
Roll up the sleeves on your forearm tattoos
Shave off your beard and your hair and your eyebrows too
Watch out the window impatiently waiting to see
If that pillar of salt is still standing where she ought to be
Draw up your borders and I’ll draw up mine
Send out your soldiers, patrol that thin white lie
Give you an inch, woman, you take a mile
But my heart’s in my mouth I see that perfect smile
Living the dream and I dream only you
So much better together, it’s biscuits and cream for two
It's two hands together, their fingers entwined
A third to enfold them forever, body and mind
And I watch the curling smoke wrap round your face
When you’re not lying wrapped in my arms I feel so out of place
I'm living the dream and I dream of only you, dear
Our hands intertwined if only forever

Mrs. Ink
02:37
|
|||
Black and white and red all over
As she stalks the city street
You think you found your four-leaf clover, don’t you
She’s such a freak when you get her in the sheets
(Read her like a magazine)
Every drop of ink is somewhere on her map
(Read her topography)
Isn’t she the best that you’ve had yet
Mrs. Ink ain’t waiting for her mister anymore
She’s got you in between her teeth like a cigarette
Once she puts you out she’s back out the door
Black and white and red it’s alright
Black and blue it’s over for you
White and red she’s in your bed
Mrs. Ink is too good to be true
Black and white and red it’s alright
Black and blue it’s over for you
White and red she’s in your bed
Mrs. Ink is too good to be true
Black and white and red it’s alright
Black and blue it’s over for you
White and red she’s in your bed
Mrs. Ink is too good to be true
Black and white and red it’s alright
Black and blue it’s over for you
White and red she’s in your bed
Mrs. Ink is too good to be true

Burning Season
03:09
|
|||
Burning time; the season comes upon us once again
Firelight; rising smoke is visible from miles around
The steering wheel is melting in my hands and I am losing all control
The others tried to flee but now I see their cars wrapped round electric poles
Burning time; killing time between the fire warnings
Smoke alarms; shrieking in the glow, just like us too
Daylight dies; smoke obscures the sun and ash descends like snow
Flaming pyres; the conflagrations look like houses, but I don’t know
Burning deer are leaping over medians and shrieking as they char
It could have been a cigarette, or better yet, someone let it get this far
Burning time, killing time between the fire warnings
Smoke alarms, shrieking in the glow, just like us too
Burning time, killing time between the fire warnings
Hell arrived, flames engulf and sulfur stings our eyes

The Ballad Of Pagliacci
03:23
|
|||
See Pagliacci, the world-famous clown
You’re guaranteed laughter and smiles
Everyone flocks here from country and town
To lay down their troubles awhile
Dear Pagliacci, the famous Pierrot
How white are his linens on stage
Red are they stained now that blood starts to flow
His script has now reached the last page
Oh Pagliacci, you took it too far
The gun in your hand has gone cold
Columbine left you, took Harlequin’s car
The rumors are true, so I’m told
Clowns by the thousands have flocked to your grave
To lay a red rose on your slab
Tears have replaced all the joy that you gave
And colors once vibrant are drab
There’s Pagliacci, the world-famous clown
He’s back in the spotlight again
The makeup’s the same but it’s so different now
The show’s changed forever, my friend

The Perversion
03:23
|
|||
The serpent is not to be feared
But the dove is more than it appears
The symbols are subverted and perverted past the surface
Interpretation of things as we know them
On a tree a black-eyed dove stares unblinkingly at me
This mark of peace, a terrible omen
I’ve interrupted something that I wasn’t meant to see
My fingers have brushed past the surface
The blackness in the void is so alive within my dreams
And pregnant with terrible purpose
The serpent is not to be feared
But the dove is more than it appears
The symbols perverted and serve to unnerve me
As terror has pierced through my tears
The Haruspex protects us and predicts what’s yet to come
And Juneaux so sultry reclining
The little gods of envy titter as they look upon
My reason and rhyme keep declining
The terror and the folly all entwined and inside out
The terrible purpose insisting
The King of rictus grins with holly thorns inside his mouth
I worsen my pain by resisting
The serpent is not to be feared
But the dove is more than it appears
The symbols perverted and serve to unnerve me
As terror has pierced through my tears
The serpent is not to be feared
But the dove is more than it appears
The symbols perverted and serve to unnerve me
As terror has pierced through my tears
The serpent is not to be feared
But the dove is more than it appears

As The Sweet Mint Grows
02:08
|
|||
As the sweet mint grows
So does my love for you, dear
As the lavender flowers
Blossom this time of the year
As the tide recedes (as the tide recedes)
Never shall I depart with her
Through the summer and autumn
Though the weather grow bitter
As the setting sun
Paints all the west with its splendor
Oh, remember the only one
Who fills you with love warm and tender
As the sweet mint grows
So does my love for you, dear
As the lilacs hang heavy
Their perfume suspended in air
As our love will blossom
Just as the mint in the autumn
We bind to one another
Never the other forgotten

Wayfaring Stranger
03:21
|
|||
I am a poor wayfaring stranger
Traveling through this world of woe
There is no sickness, toil or danger
In that bright land to which I go
I am not proud; I know my boundaries
I only serve a higher cause
My purpose swirls and gathers ‘round me
As I submit to nature’s laws
I'll see my mothers and my fathers
I know they’ll meet me when I come
We will embrace in bright Valhalla
For I’m only coming home
Although my path is dark and dangerous
Though the wind whips at my face
Though the mighty stand between us
Traveling to this golden place
I will shoulder every burden
Though my heart is black with dread
For my great and weighty yearning
I wipe my tears and push ahead
I'll see my mothers and my fathers
I know they’ll meet me when I come
We will embrace in bright Valhalla
For I’m only going home
I'll see my mothers and my fathers
I know they’ll meet me when I come
We will embrace in bright Valhalla
For I’m only coming home
